BDM Job Interview Questions and Answers

1. As a business development manager what strategies will you consider most effective to expand a company’s product reach and profit revenues?

“As a business development manager i will recommend adopting a democratic approach while developing out the strategy. Firstly i’ll have a glance at the goals and objectives of the organization then I’ll be working on them to get them converted into an impact full mission statement that will be motivating for the audience hence leading to greater contribution from everyone’s side. After all this I’ll be working on developing an effective set of actions to be performed and will ensure t
hey are fulfilled by communicating timely with my subordinates.”

2. What qualities do you think make a great Business Development Manager?

“To be a Great Business development manager always Follow-up On Your Promises, Have Excellent Business Domain Knowledge, Create and Maintain Excellent Relationships, Participate In Team Social Activities.”

3. Does ‘Business development’ mean ‘sales’? 

“Business development is more than sales. It is a combination of strategic analysis, marketing, and sales. Business development can be involved in everything from the development of their employers’ products and services, to the creation of marketing strategies, generation of sales leads and negotiating closing deals.”

4. What are some of the best ways to use the web for business development?

“As we all know nothing stays constant in this world. Now days for business development many web based sources replaced old rolodexes. LinkedIn is one of those; it is a business network that has emerged as a substitute to the rolodex. LinkedIn offers a much more robust way of maintaining your business connections and seeing what they are up to. Beyond connecting on LinkedIn there are other modern means of connecting with people. Facebook message, Twitter @response, a comment on a photo or blog post, etc. These are ways of getting someone’s attention that are creative.”

5. How innovative you are in developing different effective marketing strategies? 

“Every new and challenging task inspire me pull me to do something different which inspires others too. In my previous job I have given a task not related to my skills I took it as challenge and did lot of research related to that project, map out basic needs and then accomplished that project with great success.”

6. How do you measure product success?

“Product success can be measure by usage and attitude studies that examine consumer usage and attitude about products, advertising, brand awareness, and brand image at a given point in time.”

7. What are the main duties of a business development manager? 

“Business development professional is typically responsible to identify new business opportunities-whether that means new markets, new partnerships with other businesses, new ways to reach existing markets, or new product or service offerings to better meet the needs of existing markets-and then to go out and exploit those opportunities to bring in more revenue.

8. What qualities would you look for, if you were recruiting someone for this position?

Prior Research work is essential to answer this question; you need to analyse the job description and specification. The answer to this question would estimate your understanding of the role under discussion. “If I were to recruit someone for this position, I would look for someone who can communicate well and have the ability to create strong bonding among existing work which will help to create positive working environment.”

9. Do you anticipate problem or react to them?

“Mostly it depends upon the nature of the problem. However I always try to anticipate them and indulge myself in digging out why I face this problem and than finding out ways to solve them as soon as possible.”
